A brief history of the bakery
1912 - present day
In 1912 the bakery moved from its original premises—now the site of the Idle Rocks Hotel—to a building along Marine Parade. In the 1970s it relocated again to a converted cottage further along the parade. By this time we had also taken on the former cobbler’s shop on The Quay, where we still sell from today.
Today the bakery is run by Patrick Curtis together with his wife Jane and their two children, Olly and Lydia. Patrick began working alongside his father, Ronny, in the bakery at just 16 years old. Ronny sadly passed away in 1988 and Pat stepped up and took over the running of the bakery with his Mum, Marie, until she passed in 2017. Pat met Jane in 1999 - they got married the same year. Very quickly Jane became an integral part of the bakery and still is today.
