Online Pasty Classes for Charity
A much-loved family bakery in Cornwall is inviting people to celebrate St Piran’s Day in a hands-on way this year, by learning how to make a traditional Cornish pasty at home.
St Mawes Bakery, based in the harbour village of St Mawes, will be hosting online pasty-making classes on 5th and 8th March, giving participants the chance to pick up the skills behind one of Cornwall’s best-known dishes.
Each session will last around two hours and gently guide you through the whole process, from making the pastry to preparing the filling and perfecting that all-important crimp. It’s designed to be friendly and informal, whether you’re a complete beginner or just keen to refine your technique.
Once you’ve booked, you’ll receive a list of ingredients in advance, giving you time to plan ahead and pick up what you need, ideally from local suppliers where you can.
Tickets cost £20 per person, and £1 from every booking will be donated to Cornwall Hospice Care, supporting the vital work they do for families across the county.
St Piran’s Day is all about celebrating Cornwall’s heritage and community spirit, and this feels like a fitting way to do just that, sharing skills, stories and good food, wherever you happen to be joining from.
Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended for anyone keen to take part. Book today: https://shpurl.link/to/KZJT6
