Did You Know Our Steak Pasties Are Traditional Cornish Pasties?

For generations, we've been making our steak pasties the traditional Cornish way. Long before any official recognition, we knew that our recipes, methods and ingredients reflected the heritage of one of Cornwall's most iconic foods.

Earlier this year, that tradition was officially recognised when our steak pasties received Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) certification. While we were proud to achieve this milestone, what matters most to us is that it confirms what we've always believed – our pasties are authentic, traditional Cornish pasties.

What Makes a Traditional Cornish Pasty?

The famous Cornish pasty was awarded Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status in 2011, protecting its heritage and ensuring that only pasties made to strict traditional standards can officially be called Cornish pasties.

To meet these standards, every pasty must:

  • Be made in Cornwall.
  • Contain traditional ingredients; beef, potato, swede, onion, and simple seasoning such as salt and pepper.
  • Be made using traditional methods, with the filling assembled raw before baking inside a savoury pastry.
  • Have the distinctive D-shape with a hand-crimped edge along the side.

These aren't new standards for us, they're the way we've always made our pasties.

Made the Traditional Way

Our steak pasties are handcrafted by third-generation master baker Patrick, following recipes and techniques that have been passed down through generations. Every pasty is made with care, quality ingredients and a commitment to preserving Cornwall's baking traditions.

The official certification simply recognises the craftsmanship and authenticity that have always been at the heart of what we do.

A True Taste of Cornwall

When you choose one of our Traditional Cornish Steak Pasties, you can be confident you're enjoying the real thing. Not only do they deliver the flavour our customers know and love, but they also represent the heritage, quality and tradition that make the Cornish pasty so special.

For us, being traditional has never been about having a certificate; it's about continuing to make Cornish pasties the way they should be made. We're proud that our certification now reflects that commitment and gives our customers the reassurance that every bite is a genuine taste of Cornwall.
