A Taste of Cornwall, Passed Down Through the Generations
Share
For over 100 years, St Mawes Bakery has been at the heart of the village, serving delicious baked goods and traditional Cornish favourites to locals and visitors alike.
Today, the bakery remains a true family business, with the fourth generation now working alongside the third-generation master baker, Patrick. Together with his wife Jane and their children Lydia and Oliver, the family continues a proud baking tradition that has been passed down through the generations.
Keeping Cornish Tradition Alive
Third-generation master baker Patrick brings years of experience and knowledge to every batch, helping to ensure that our traditional Cornish pasties continue to taste as delicious as ever. His dedication to the craft is at the heart of what we do and reflects the bakery's long-standing connection to Cornish baking traditions.
Patrick's wife, Jane, is an integral part of the bakery and is often found welcoming customers in the shop. She also runs our popular pasty-making classes, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about the traditions and techniques behind one of Cornwall's most famous foods.
Welcoming the Fourth Generation
The fourth generation of the family is now firmly part of the bakery's future.
Lydia brings a fresh burst of creativity to St Mawes Bakery, introducing delicious new favourites alongside our traditional recipes. From our much-loved apple crumble buns to our flavour-packed doughnuts, Lydia's ideas are helping to bring something new to the bakery while remaining rooted in the family traditions that have always been so important to us.
Oliver, also part of the fourth generation, can often be found in the shop, where he is known for making a lovely cup of tea. Behind the scenes, however, he plays an important role in keeping on top of all things numbers and helping with the business side of the bakery.
The family is also supported by a fantastic team of staff, many of whom you will regularly see in the shop, helping to make St Mawes Bakery the welcoming place it is today.
More Than Just a Bakery
St Mawes Bakery is more than just a place to buy a pasty, cake or cup of coffee. It is a family legacy, built on tradition and deeply rooted in the village of St Mawes.
Earlier this year, our steak pasties were awarded official Cornish Pasty status, a recognition that highlights the deep Cornish traditions at the heart of the bakery. For more than a century, the bakery has continued to evolve while staying true to the values and traditions passed down through the generations.
From Patrick's traditional baking expertise and Jane's warm welcome to Lydia's creative new ideas and Oliver's work behind the scenes, the family continues to build on the legacy of St Mawes Bakery.
We are proud of our past, excited about our future and grateful to everyone who continues to support our family bakery.
